Project Pop Renewal Pt 3
Now that my Marvel Pops are all taken care of as of Part 2 of my Project Pop Renewal, I can now move on to this final part which is to renew and organize all my other Pops. It shouldn’t be quite as much work as the Marvel Pops since I shouldn’t have to do anymore heavy lifting. The main tasks here will be to build some new risers, reorganize my Pops for proper display, dust them all off, and hopefully put up some sort of backing material between the Pops and the Pop boxes I use to make sure the Pops don’t fall backwards off the top of their risers. I might also need to fix a few falling Pops too.
I started with my Gaming Pops. First, I finished that raw riser I had stuffed in there since I don’t know how many years ago that I meant to finish back then. I also put Pop boxes behind the Pops to keep them from falling backwards off the riser. I had hoped to put some sort of foam material between the boxes and the Pops to hide the boxes and better show off the Pops on display but that will have to wait until another day. Later, I reorganized my Pops now that my Gaming Pops collection has changed a bit with some of the old Pops gone and new Pops taking their places. I so miss my Garrus Pop 🙁 Oh well. I hope he and the others enjoy their new home.
Next up are my DC Heroes Pops which actually needed the least amount of work done. I just needed to rearrange them a bit and dust them all off. I took the smaller riser from another Pops section apart and used the bottom finished piece as a new riser for my Aquaman Pops and moved them all the way over to the right. I then moved my Batman ’66 Pops to the center and rearranged them. The Wonder Woman Pops were only rearranged a little plus I added a new one. Now to just put boxes behind them here so they aren’t so far back and thus no longer so far into the shadow like before plus they won’t fall off the tops of the risers. After all that, just a bit of dusting and I am done!
I must have had several fewer Star Wars Pops when I took the older photo above as I now have three levels of Pops instead of just two on my bookcase (and I’ve got two more Pops on the way). I didn’t need to do too much here other than dusting and a little rearranging. Oh, I also needed to put some boxes behind the Pops on the very top of the bookcase because the last thing I want is Pops falling behind a bookcase I can’t move at all anymore. I now notice that I don’t have room for too many more Star Wars Pops. I will have to figure out what to do about that soon. I guess it’s a good thing there aren’t any more movies coming out soon but there are going to be several new shows on Disney+ out soon, aren’t there? I guess I’ll have to figure out something when those come out!
I saved the biggest part of this part of the job for last. I had to build a whole second three level riser for my Movies & More Pops plus a another one level riser to put the TARDIS on so it could be seen behind Jaws and Godzilla. I also did a lot more dusting (btw, you can’t dust a flocked Pop but you can get a Swiffer stuck on a flocked Pop so that it knocks the Pop over along with anything next to it). Thanks to the new, wider riser I also added more Pop boxes to keep my Pops from falling behind the furniture. Once again, I need to get some backing material to put between the boxes and the Pops to hide the boxes and show off the Pops but I don’t have any yet.
I also had to do a few quick fixes. John Oliver, the Mad Hatter, Barbosa, the Queen of Hearts, Brian, and a few others kept falling over due to various design flaws. I used museum putty on all of them to adhere them to clear acrylic bases to give them added stability. So far, that seems to work for most of them. So far!
I was going to hang two new shelves I finally received in the mail but I’ve decided to wait until I absolutely need them. That is mainly because I would need to move half of my many Marvel Pops to put the shelves up and I don’t feel like doing that right now. Oh, if you’re wondering what those little yellow stick-it notes are for in the photos, those are placeholders for future Pops that I’ve pre-ordered.
That’s it for Project Pop Renewal! For now… I have several Pops on pre-order from May until August so you can expect my collection to continue to be updated as it continues to evolve and grow. At the time of this posting, I have 270 Pops (that counts both on hand and on the way) so there will always be more to do! I promised myself I would cap it at 300 but I’ve never been too good at keeping promises to myself. LOL Thanks for viewing!
